The AI Recipient Validation service (AIRV) is intended for customers with a Microsoft 365 organization. This service protects the customer's users from accidentally sending emails that are misdirected or contain sensitive information in Outlook. This prevents, for example, sensitive information from being exposed to the wrong recipients, which could damage the organization's reputation or lead to legal consequences.
Customer-level administrators can activate the service in the Control Panel and then configure it. This involves installing the AI Recipient Validation add-in on their users' Outlook applications (see Supported Outlook Applications). This add-in alerts users as soon as they send an email to potentially unintended recipients or with potentially unintended contents. Users are alerted and can decide whether to edit the email or send it despite the warning.
The warnings that have been issued to a customer's users are summarized in statistics in the Control Panel. Customer-level administrators can access these statistics and see how many warnings were issued during a certain period and which type of warnings they were. This gives administrators a better view of what situations their users are exposed to and allows them to train their users as needed.
