Note:
- Hyper-V Hosts and Client Operating Systems are not supported
- Core Operating Systems are not supported
- SBS2011 is not supported
- Virtual Machines (VMs) are not supported for backup, please make use of Altaro VM Backup for backing up VMs

Required Hardware Specifications
- Minimum of i5 (or equivalent) processor
- 2 GB RAM
- 1 GB Hard Disk Space + 15 GB (for temporary files created during backup operations)
- Minimum of 10% free disk space on each volume holding live data to be used for Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy
- Partitions being backed up must:
- be NTFS or FAT32 formatted
- not have spanned/mirrored volumes
- be Basic Disk Type (not Dynamic)
- be of disk type "LocalDisk"
Software Prerequisites
- MS .NET Framework 4.0/4.5 and 4.7 (required for TLS1.2) on Windows Server 2012
- Minimum screen resolution for the Altaro Management console: 1280x800
Communication Ports
- 35480 : Communication between User Interface and Altaro Physical Server Backup
- 35116 & 35117 : Communication from Altaro Physical Server Backup to the Altaro Offsite Server
Supported Backup Locations
- USB External Drives
- eSata External Drives
- USB Flash Drives
- Fileserver Network Shares using UNC Paths
- NAS devices (Network Attached Storage) using UNC Paths
- PC Internal Hard Drives (recommended only for evaluation purposes)
Note:
- Target storage partitions must be either NTFS formatted or Network Paths and accessible by SMB3.0
- Please ensure that the backup location chosen does not perform any sort of deduplication outside that of Altaro Physical Server Backup
- Tape Devices are not supported as backup locations
