The Identity tab within 365 Tenant Manager provides partners with a high-level view for each discovered user. This allows you to view, filter and explore detailed information on users, along with their associated configurations and advanced filtering options.
To view this tab, select the relevant customer from the Scope, open the Control Panel and browse to [365 Tenant Manager] > [Identity].
Users
Within this tab, one can select to view their [Users]. Each view contains important Identity related details, such as: 'User Type', 'MFA Status' and 'Compliance' status. You can also filter the view to suit your needs:
Through the [Bulk Actions] button, one can collectively perform tasks for their Users. This provides four main action categories: 'Account Access & Authentication', 'Role & Group Membership', 'Mailbox Management' and 'Licensing & Permissions'. Each of these categories contains specific actions which can be executed for the selected Users.
Through the [+ New User] button, you can select [Create User] or [Invite External User].
[Create User]: This allows you to create a new internal user account in Microsoft 365 by using a user principal name.
[Invite External User]: This allows you to invite guest users outside of your organization.
Each user is also clickable; selecting one of your users opens a new tab. Inside this view, you will find important information for the specific user, such as: 'Assigned Settings', 'Roles', 'Group Memberships', 'Applications', etc.
Opening the 'View Settings' button will populate all assigned settings for the relevant user. From here, you can remediate non-compliant settings.
Any setting can be either assigned or inherited.
One can also run user-specific actions from 'Quick Actions', such as 'Reset Password' under 'Account Access & Authentication'.
Groups
Within this tab, one can select to view [Groups]. Each view contains important Identity related details, such as: 'Group Type', 'Owners', 'Direct Members' and 'Compliance' status. You can also filter the view to suit your needs:
Clicking on the count under 'Direct Members' will populate the list of users who are members of that group.
Through the [Bulk Actions] button, one can collectively perform tasks for their Groups. This provides four main action categories: 'Group Management' and 'Mailbox Management'. Under [Groups], through the [+ New Group] button, you can select [Create Distribution List], [Create Microsoft 365 Group], or [Create Microsoft 365 Group].
[Create Distribution List]: This allows you to send emails to multiple users or groups using a single email address.
[Create Microsoft 365 Group]: This allows you to create a Microsoft 365 Group. Members of these groups will automatically be given access to collaborative tools and shared resources, including a group mailbox in Outlook, a SharePoint site for files, a OneNote notebook, a Planner board for tasks, and other connected Microsoft 365
services.
[Create Security Group]: This allows you to create Security groups within Microsoft 365 to manage granting permissions to resources such as: SharePoint sites, files, and other connected Microsoft 365
services.
