The 365 Permission Manager dashboard provides a visual overview of the permissions and compliance status of your M365 Organization.
The Overview dashboard introduces a new metric called Permission, with each unit representing a unique item-user, group or link permission. At the top are four tiles showing:
- Total Permissions Remediated: This metric shows the total number of permissions that have been remediated for the tenant since the day of release (December 2024).
- Permissions in Audit: This shows all permissions currently in an Audit state. Clicking this will redirect you to the [To Do] page, showing violations filtered by the compliance state in Audit.
- Permissions Non-Compliant: This shows all permissions which are in a non-compliant state. Clicking this will redirect you to the [To Do] page, showing violations filtered by the compliance state in Non-Compliant.
- Permissions without Policy: This shows all permissions within sites without a policy assigned. Clicking this will redirect you to the [Explore Sites] view.
Violations pertaining to Site Settings are currently excluded from the permissions counts.
The Permission Trends section shows a unified date picker with new pre-defined periods.
The Permissions State chart shows a historical state of Audit and Non-Compliant permissions. You can click on the legend at the bottom to switch-on/off trendlines. Hovering over the cart will show the individual trendline values.
The Permissions Activity chart displays how your permissions were approved or remediated within the selected date range:
- Auto-Remediated: This represents the total number of permissions which were automatically remediated by the product.
- Admin-Remediated: This represents the total number of permissions which were manually remediated by the admin.
- User-Remediated: This represents the total number of permissions which were manually remediated by the user or site owner.
- Admin-Approved: This represents the total number of permissions which were approved by the admin.
- User-Approved: This represents the total number of permissions which were approved by the admin.
On the other hand, the Compliance dashboard presents a deeper understanding of the state of compliance of the organization. The pie charts at the top show the compliance state distribution of the organization's sites. The main pie chart on the left shows the state of the entire organization, while the other three represent the state of compliance for each specific site type - Communication Sites, Team Sites and OneDrive. Each pie chart also shows the percentage of compliant sites. Hovering over the other segments shows the percentages for the other compliance states in the tooltips and clicking on them takes you to the [Explore Sites] list prefiltered by compliance state.
Similarly, the Item-Level Compliance States pie chart gives an overview of the state of compliance in terms of items. This can be filtered down to specific sites, or for the entire organization. Clicking on the segments takes you to the [To Do] list prefiltered by compliance state.
The Compliance by Policies section presents the state of compliance for each policy in terms of sites assigned. Clicking on the segments takes you to the [Explore Sites] pre-filtered by policy and compliance state.
The Upcoming Audits section contains all sites which have a re-audit of past approvals approaching, while the Overdue Audits contains all sites which are non-compliant.
The Violation Trends chart shows a historical view of detected violations grouped by type, which can be filtered by date and site.
Possible compliance states are:
- Compliant: The site is compliant with the assigned compliance policy.
- Audit: The site is currently compliant with the assigned compliance policy, but there are violations of the policy that may cause the site to become non-compliant if the cause is not remediated or approved within the grace period.
- Non-Compliant: The site is not compliant with the assigned compliance policy.
- Without Policy: No compliance policy is assigned to the site.
