Hornetsecurity offers the possibility to import public and private S/MIME certificates for email encryption. The import of private certificates is a paid service. Please get in touch with our sales department to inquire about any possible charges.
In general, public S/MIME certificates are automatically imported from the .p7m attachment of a signed incoming email.
Private S/MIME certificates can also be ordered directly through the Control Panel.
Requirements - your own Certificates
The requirements can be found here.
Import of public certificates via LDAP
Hornetsecurity also offers to query public certificate repositories via LDAP. Thus, the public keys in the databases can be used for outgoing encrypted email transmission.
For the setup we need one of the following LDAP commands, filled with the appropriate data:
Connect with a password:
{@domain1.com},{@domain2.com},{domain3.com}:ldap:{repositoryaddress.tld};{user};{password};mail=RECIPIENT userCertificateConnect without a password:
{@domain1.com},{@domain2.com},{domain3.com}:ldap:{repositoryaddress.tld};{user};;;mail=RECIPIENT userCertificate
The request for the import needs to be sent to support@hornetsecurity.com by email.
