There are no specific hardware or software requirements for Hornetsecurity’s pure cloud services. The only requirements for the cloud services are a current host device, a modern web browser, and an internet connection.
However, additional requirements may apply for our add-ins and certain configurations.
Total Protection Outlook Add-in:
The add-in can be used by customers with both Exchange Online and Exchange On-Premise.
Supported Outlook versions:
- Outlook on the Web (OWA)
- Outlook 365
- The latest version of Outlook for Windows and macOS
- The latest Outlook version for iOS and Android
(Disclaimer: Use with older Outlook versions may be possible in some cases but is not technically guaranteed.)
The Phishing Reporter add-in is compatible with the latest version of Outlook for Windows. It is also compatible with the following email clients:
- Outlook for Android
- Outlook for iOS
- Outlook for macOS
- Outlook on the web

AI Recipient Validation Add-in
The AI Recipient Validation add-in is supported by the following Outlook applications in their latest versions:
- Outlook for macOS
- Outlook for Windows
- Outlook on the Web
Note: This version of the Outlook add-in is outdated and no longer supported. It has been replaced by the On-Premise Total Protection Outlook Add-in.
The following operating systems are supported:
- Windows 7, 32-bit and 64-bit
- Windows 8 and 8.1, 32-bit and 64-bit
- Windows 10, 32-bit and 64-bit

Technical requirements
- Microsoft .NET 4.5 Framework system extension must be installed to operate the Outlook add-in.

- Archiving internal emails: Microsoft Exchange 2007 or newer with permission to set a send connector
- Webfilter Connector**: Windows XP or newer
