When upgrading your VM Backup installation from V8 to V9, the configuration is migrated as soon as V9 is run for the first time. Upon opening V9, you will be greeted with a new tab named [Upgrade VMs].
The role of this tool is to upgrade your VMs from V8 to V9 at your own pace. Any VMs upgraded to V9 will have their backups started from scratch. The wizard helps provide an estimate of the space required on the configured backup locations. Above all, the upgraded VMs will still have their V8 backup data intact and will be available for restore through VM Backup V8. More detailed information is provided in the screenshot below, which can be opened by clicking the "i" icon within the 'Upgrade VMs' tab.
To upgrade your VMs, select the VMs and click 'Upgrade'.
Lastly, click 'Proceed' and the selected VMs will be upgraded to V9.
