This article explains how to restrict login to the Control Panel to specific IP addresses.
Using authentication policies, you can specify which IP addresses users can log in to the Control Panel from. This provides an additional way to secure access to the Control Panel.
Important note
As soon as you add the first IP address, the restriction becomes active.
From that point on, users can log in to the Control Panel only from the IP addresses entered. This also applies to administrators.
Therefore, first add the public IP address you are currently logged in to the Control Panel from. Otherwise, you may lock yourself out of the Control Panel.
Add an IP address
- Log in to the Control Panel using your administrative credentials.
- Navigate to Settings > Authentication.
- Click Add IP.
- Enter the IP address or CIDR range from which login should be allowed.
- Save the change.
Afterward, you can log in to the Control Panel only from the IP addresses entered.
Notes
Observe the following points:
- The IP restriction applies to the login into the Control Panel.
- The setting does not apply to mail flow.
- The setting does not automatically apply to relay IPs or server IPs for sending email.
- The restriction also applies to administrators.
- Before saving, check whether your current public IP address or CIDR range has been entered.
- If your location's public IP address changes regularly, login may be blocked.
