POP3/IMAP will now be completely replaced by Hornet.email. There are a few things to keep in mind for the migration.
Change of environment
During the week of September 2, 2025, to September 5, 2025, all POP3/IMAP mailboxes will be transferred to a Hornet.email environment.
What this means for end users:
- the POP3/IMAP services will no longer be available. POP3/IMAP/SMTP will reject connections
- there will be no downtime for incoming emails, as the Hornet.email environment will start accepting emails immediately after the change. The emails will then be available to users once the mail client settings have been changed
- mail clients will not be able to send emails until the settings for the new environment have been entered
For the services to function completely again, the settings for all affected clients must be changed:
- Webmail: hornet.email
- POP3: pop3.hornet.email
- IMAP: imap.hornet.email
- SMTP: smtp.hornet.email
If you use a smarthost for authentication, please also change it to the current SMTP server, smtp.hornet.email.
Mailboxes:
Each POP3/IMAP mailbox that is migrated will receive 25 GB of storage space in Hornet.Email. You must ensure that the mailboxes are cleaned up so that they are below this limit; otherwise, you will not receive any new emails. New emails would otherwise be rejected with the message “Mailbox storage full.”
