The guest VM backup will be restored to a new location and will be given a new name. The original guest VM will not be overwritten and you will end up with the cloned VM running side by side with the original VM.
- To start the restore process navigate to [Restore] > [Restore VM as Clone]
- Select one or more backup locations that contain the backups of the VMs you wish to restore. Then click [Next] to proceed:
- Choose the VM(s) you wish to restore and click [Next]:
- Now you can select the version, name and whether you would like to enable the network card you would like to restore for each VM.
At this stage you will also select to which host you will be restoring to. Here are the system requirements for OS support.
You can also select to restore to an [Unconfigured Host], which will not require a license. See here for more information.
If you wish to restore your VMs to different locations or if you're restoring from different backup sets that have different encryption keys, simply check the [Specify different restore destination / decryption key for each Virtual Machine]
Finally, select the [Restore to Location], which for Hyper-V will be any locally connected disk (iSCSI included) and for VMware you will be able to select a datastore.
When you're happy with your selection, click [Restore]
- The restore operation will begin in the background and progress can be monitored from the Dashboard
Finally, once complete, you will see the completed restore operations in the Dashboard, and your Cloned VMs will show up on the specified Host.
