This article explains how to check in Email Live Tracking whether an email was delivered due to an allowlist entry.
Allowlist entries can bypass certain filtering levels. As a result, an email may be delivered that might otherwise have been filtered without an allowlist entry.
View the categorization reason
In the Control Panel, a Reason for categorization is displayed for each email. This reason shows why an email was assigned to a specific category.
You can view the reason in two ways.
Show the “Reason” column in Email Live Tracking
- Open Email Live Tracking.
- Click the gear icon.
- Enable the Reason column.
- Search for the affected email.
- Check the entry in the Reason column.
View the reason in the email details
- In Email Live Tracking, open the affected email.
- Click Email details.
- Check the Reason entry in the email details.
Reasons for emails allowed by allowlisting
If an email was allowed due to an allowlist entry, one of the following reasons may be displayed:
| Reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
sender allowed by domain policy |
The sender or domain is on the domain-wide allowlist. |
allowed by user policy |
The sender is on the user's allowlist. |
Interpret the result
If one of these reasons is displayed, the email was allowed due to an allowlist entry.
If none of these reasons is displayed, the email was delivered or categorized for another reason.
