If emails sent via Hornetsecurity are rejected with the code 454 4.7.1, it means that the IP address used to send the emails is not authorized to send emails on behalf of your domain. This behavior can be corrected by adding the IP address or CIDR range in the Control Panel.
How do I find out which IP address an email is sent from?
To find out from which IP address your system is sending, you can view the Source IP in the Email Live Tracking:
1. Log in to the Control Panel with your credentials.
2. Navigate to the module Email Security > Email Live Tracking.
3. Click on the gear icon at the top right of the table.
4. Then select Source IP.
(As an example, the following email was rejected because the IP address was not registered)
Where do I add the IP address so my system is allowed to send the email?
After you have determined the IP address, you can add it in the Control Panel. You can add individual IP addresses or CIDR ranges. Enter the IP address or range through which your system hands over outgoing emails to Hornetsecurity.
1. Log in to the Control Panel with your credentials.
2. Navigate to Email Security > Spam & Malware Protection > Settings.
3. Select the domain under Domain for which you want to make the primary environment settings.
4. Then enter the determined IP address under IP addresses of relay servers for outgoing emails.
Note: Newly added IP addresses are provided to Hornetsecurity servers within up to 30 minutes. During this period, email rejections may still occur.
