The Service Desk role within the Control Panel has been extended to allow users to access 365 Total Backup with limited permissions.
This role is intended for users who require access to 365 Total Backup for monitoring and reports. Specifically, Service Desk users will have the ability to:
- Monitor Users / Groups & SharePoint
- Manage Alerts
- View and Export Audit Logs
- View and Export Billing related Data
Users with this role enabled will not be able to perform sensitive operations, such as:
- Initiating Restores
- Browsing Backed-up Data
- Pausing Backups for Users & Groups
- Excluding Backups
- Deleting Backed-up Data
- Actions related to Microsoft 365 Organizations, including the removal of a Microsoft 365 Organization
- Modifying the Retention Policy & the Backup Pilot
- Modifying Four-Eye Approval settings
- Approving and Rejecting Four-Eye Approval requests
To assign this role, follow the steps below:
- As Global Admin, navigate to the [Control Panel]
- Go to [Settings] > [Service Dashboard]
- Select the [Administration] tab and under [Role], select [Add Entry]
- In the 'Select User' field, enter the address of the user
- In the 'Select Roles' field, select the Service Desk role
Combining the Service Desk role with the Total Backup role
While the Service Desk role alone provides limited access to 365 Total Backup, it can be assigned together with the Total Backup role to provide full access to 365 Total Backup.
When both roles are assigned to the same user, the user will have full access to 365 Total Backup, while having limited access to the other products available to the organization.
