If you're looking to enable backups for Entra ID Users & Groups within 365 Total Backup, follow the guide below.
Note that a P1 license is required for at least one user when backing up Entra ID items.
For New Tenants
- Launch 365 Total Backup and open the [Microsoft 365 Organizations] tab and select [Add a Microsoft 365 Organization]
- Next, input the necessary fields
- Grant the necessary permissions by following the on-screen instructions
- Select which Users will be enabled for backup, and toggle the highlighted buttons to enable backups for Entra ID users
- Select which Groups & Document Libraries will be enabled for backup, and toggle the highlighted buttons to enable backups for Entra ID groups
- Double-check and confirm the new changes
For Existing Tenants
- First, you need to regrant permissions of your O365 Organisation so that the Entra ID items are discovered
- Next, to enable backups for Entra ID users, browse to [Backups] > [Users] and click [Bulk Manage]
- Select [Start Backing Up New Users}
- Toggle [Entra ID]
- Double-check and confirm the new changes
To enable backups for Entra ID groups, repeat the steps from the [Groups & SharePoint] tab > [Bulk Manage].
Once done, the selected Users will start backing up automatically. This can be viewed from the [Dashboard] or from the [Users] / [Groups & SharePoint] tab.
